Kontera Review Kontera is a large ad network that accommodates more than 15,000 publishers and reaches more than 140 million unique users each month. We review over a hundred such programs on experienced-people.co.uk. At first glance, Kontera might look just like another ad network serving in-text ads but looks can be deceiving. Even though they focus solely on selling in-text ads, known as ContentLink ads, they do offer surprisingly many customization options and a bewildering variety of ad products that can be served through their in-text ads. Similar to most other in-text ad networks, Kontera ads show as double-underlined (or otherwise hyperlinked) keywords which upon interaction display an ad product relevant to the page’s content; and here’s where the similarities with most other in-text programs end. Along with the conventional text and image ads, Kontera serves pretty much every possible IAB-compliant ad unit type through their in-text ads including rich media, video and expandable ad units. Moreover, publishers are given the option to implement customizable ad units tailor-made for their sites. A great demo of all Kontera ad types and their specifications can be found here. Kontera’s publishers receive a respectable 70% revenue share with a minimum payout of $50 and multiple payment options. Sites with over 25k US pageviews per month enjoy additional signing bonuses giving an extra incentive for busy sites to join the network. Kontera claims to maintain an impressive 7% to 12% click through rate across their advertising campaigns but at least some publishers paint Konteras’ profitability with much less brighter colors. Tech support is decent and their in-house reporting system effectively assists publishers to keep track of revenue and other stats. Installing and managing your ads requires minimal skills and effort and its child’s play for sites running on Wordpress, Blogger, Drupal or Joomla platforms. However, Kontera’s official website itself is not quite well-designed; with multiple redundant (and sometimes broken) links scattered throughout its pages and useful info in short supply many visitors will face difficulties finding what they need there. The network’s overall high quality is indisputable. Kontera ads are displayed in over 1% of the top 10,000 busiest websites in the world and their exclusive ad inventory sports major brands such as Ford, Microsoft and Samsung. Therefore, the numerous positive reviews of Kontera come as no surprise. Nontheless, the program has a few drawbacks and arguably the most significant is the huge size of their advertising javascript code that can significantly slow page loading times. Kontera ads utilize arguably the heaviest script in the market which can become even bigger when video or rich media ads are loaded regardless of visitors opening them or not! All in all, with the widely creative range of ad types served through their in-text ads Kontera certainly isn’t your typical in-text ad network. If your sites can handle the sizable javascript its ads require to run, Kontera will populate your sites with arguably the most impressive and varied in-text ads available in the market today.
