DynamicOxygen / ExitJunction Review
DynamicOxygen is a flexible ad network that supports many unusual ad types and their ExitJunction service provides an unorthodox "exit-traffic" monetization method. DynamicOxygen / ExitJunction is one of over a hundred such programs we review on experienced-people.co.uk. First of all, all ads are relevant to any search terms visitors used to find the publisher sites and only appear to visitors who come from search engines, while regular, returning visitors will not see any ads from DynamicOxygen whatsoever. Moreover, all of their ads can be used alongside traditional banners or in-text ads sinceDynamicOxygen's units are floating and don't take up any actual website real estate (though understandably any ad providers whose ads are obstructed by DynamicOxygen overlays will be pissed!) DynamicOxygen offers many unusual and aggressive (some may say obtrusive) ad types. Anchor ads, floating ads, message ads and sky ads are all floating boxes with multiple, selectable advertisements that appear on top of different sections of a webpage and remain in place even when users scroll down. Cursor ads are floating boxes that actually follow the user's cursor (!) with a clickable ad (some people find this type of ad abhorring). Interstitial ads are whole-page ad boxes that appear before the homepage is loaded; these convert well but result in very high bounce rates. Layer ads are lightbox-type overlaid ads that prevent the use of the website until they are clicked away (these too result in high bounce rates). Finally, DynamicOxygen supports "traditional" pop-ups and pop-unders. (You can find demos of all their ad types here) The ExitJunction service provides a single monetization method that targets visitors using the "back" button to leave a website that they found through search engine results. When visitors exit a website by clicking the "Back" button, ExitJunction sends them to a dynamically-generated page with targeted ads based on the search terms the visitor used to arrive at the website instead of their real "previous" search engine page! Confused about how it works? Check their demo here (warning, the back button will take you to a different page than the one you came from!) Basically, ExitJunction hijacks your "back" button and sends you to a sponsored ads search results page. Needless to say many users find this approach detestable and misleading, especially since the ads page is purposefully fashioned to mimic the search engine results that users saw before visiting the website. The site requirements to join the program are really low and the network accepts non-English websites and monetizes traffic from every country, making DynamicOxygen accessible to a broad range of publishers from all around the world. Both the DynamicOxygen and ExitJunction official pages are good at explaining what the program is about and include useful FAQs (here and here) and comprehensive demos and videos. Support is decent and the ticket system they utilize is solid. Publisher control tools are OK, stats are updated every 24 hours and installing the ads is a rather easy procedure made even easier for WordPress websites with the use of DynamicOxygen's WordPress plugin. Certainly DynamicOxygen ads can be considered misleading and obtrusive, especially the ExitJunction service, and some publishers report low earnings from using the network. However, if in your quest to monetize your websites you can stomach serving your visitors advertisements like DynamicOxygen's cursor-seeking, clickable boxes and ExitJunction's "back" button-jacking, fake search result pages you have definitely found your perfect match with DynamicOxygen and their ExitJuction service; there are very few ad networks who pull off this kind of stuff so effectively and can function alongside "regular" ad networks!
