Founded back in 1995, Burst Media is a well-established ad network with one-and-a-half decade-old advertising relationships and several satisfied, long-term publishers. Burst Media is one of over a hundred such programs we review on experienced-people.co.uk. They support most IAB-compliant ad specs including some units not commonly found in other ad networks such as “half-page” 300x600 banners. Burst Media has been recently acquired by blinkx, bringing million of hours of online video to Burst Media’s audience. Since then, every applying publisher is required to implement one of the product offerings from the Burst Media Video Suite for every website they monetize as a term to join the program. Such mandatory product placements are very uncommon in the market and as they substantially limit the publishers’ options to optimize their campaigns it is understandable that not all publishers are happy with that change. Payment specifics are decent, if not typical, with 50% revenue share and a NET 45 payout schedule. Burst Media delivers decent-paying CPM campaigns focused on quality through their niche-specific custom channels. These channels provide opportunities for specifically targeted advertisement deals, yielding even more profitable eCPMs for certain publisher sites. Unfortunately, their official website provides little in terms of useful information and many inquiring publishers are forced to contact Burst Media support directly for their inquiries. Thankfully, support is decent and really helpful, so much so that is being praised in most online comments. The available account management tools and control interface found through their Publisher Account Center (known as the “BPAC”) incorporates campaign reporting tools, campaign and revenue management tools, campaign filters and more. However, many of the control tools are reportedly cluttered, outdated and generally not the best in the market; a fact that is also confirmed by some online reviews. Burst Media has a reputation for being reliable and stable while not afraid to reinvent itself. Since 1995 many ad networks have not stood the test of time while Burst Media has remained active and profitable through it all. They may not utilize cutting-edge technology or offer spectacular deals to “sweeten the pot” like many of their direct competitors but Burst Media is undeniably a reliable choice to monetize your website; their long history (in internet terms!) a testament to that.
